EYMM Frestyle Harems

12790833_10153296879857016_6216027968750875319_n

I am so excited to be apart of this EYMM blog tour! I will be honest, when I first saw this tour, I was going to pass. Harems are not my style, nor something my kids would wear often. Then it dawned on me! I have a sweet little nephew on the way! These are prefect for diapered bottoms! So, I decided to sew up the  size 0-3 months size.

IMG_3944

When I picked fabrics, I didn’t know if baby would be a boy or a girl yet, so I tried to pick gender neutral prints. I chose to go with knits since I sewed such a tiny size! The zoo print and blue dots are from Whimsical fabrics. I bought some a while back when she had it on clearance. The other two, I got in a fabric swap with a friend. The toothless custom knit, both my kids have items from it, and now my nephew will too!
IMG_3952IMG_3950

These came together really quick, all 4 pair took me about 2 1/2 hours to cut and sew (with distractions).

When it came time to take pictures, I started laying them out and my toddler asked what I was doing. I told him I was making baby pants and asked if I could borrow Kevin (his doll) to model them for me. He let me borrow him, but he was right on the edge of the blanket to make sure nothing happened to his baby (like any good daddy would do!)

IMG_3963

He had to make sure his arm was okay when “Kevin is trying to crawl”

IMG_3961

IMG_3959IMG_3966

I guess I need to make Kevin some new pants! He is a 20″ lots o love doll, and I think the newborn size will fit him perfect!

Side note, before you ask, yes, I knit the blanket in the background!

The children’s pattern offers:
3 length options
2 front waistbands
3 hem options
19 children’s sizes, newborn-18 tween.

*BONUS* includes doll pattern that fits most 18″ dolls and can be shortened for 15″ dolls.

The women’s Pattern offers:
2 length options
2 front waistbands
3 hem options
10 women’s sizes, XS-5X

I hope you find someone (or yourself!) to sew some harems for!

If you have been sewing a while, you are probably familiar with Jocole. I love her patterns! The Derby Jacket was the first pattern I bought (a couple years ago!), during her weekly sale. Winter Wear Designs: The V Neck Vest

When I really got back into sewing and discovered PDF patterns, I quickly caught the testing bug! I love testing patterns and helping designers work out all the kinks! As life became busier and I started working for designers, I stopped testing, I just couldn’t make the time commitment and I really don’t like turning stuff in late! Lately, I have been getting back into testing groups, and Winter Wear Designs is one of my favorite designers to test for. I love her approach to testing and how she actually listens to what the testers say and suggest. I also LOVE that she is working on getting more BOY patterns out into pattern land! you can see more of the items I have made from this designer here.

The test we just finished up is for the boys V Neck Vest. It is on sale through Tuesday 2/2/16 for only $4!! Be sure to pick yours up! Of course, it will also look super cute on all those girls as well!

IMG_3689

Isn’t he just so cute??

Details:

Size: 1-14 (a size 1 is equivalent to 18 months)

V neck
banded arm holes
banded hem or a regular turned hem

Fabric choices:

upcycling
raw yardage of sweater knits
thick knit fabrics

This is definitely a nap time project! A few of the testers times ourselves and the average was ~33 min from start to finish!

My toddler loves his and keeps asking for his “soft shirt”

IMG_3717

Details about mine- The blue is a size 2 width with a 4 length and banded bottom. This was my first run of the pattern, and even though he fit in the 2 measurements, it was a little snug, so if you are in between measurements, I would size up. The red, is a straight size 3 with banded bottom. the fit was spot on! I can see is having a few more of these in the coming weeks! and defintely something cute for Easter!

Don’t forget to pick up your copy while it is on sale!

5 out of 4 Fleece Pullover Blog tour

IMG_3611

This week, I am excited to share with you the 5 out of 4 Fleece pullover! I have started sewing more for my little guy, but have had a hard time picking patterns and prints that reflect his style. Yep, at 2 1/2, he already knows what he likes and has no problem telling us! He loves to dress “just like Daddy!” which means jeans and a tee shirt. I debated sewing one of these for myself, and as soon as I pulled out the tub of fleece, he ran over and grabbed this TMNT fleece and told me “I love this momma!” I knew then that I could make this for him!

IMG_3613

He loves TMNT, and just recently received this chair, so he was thrilled that we took it outside for some pictures!

The pattern comes with layers, which makes printing super easy! There are plenty of option within the pattern as well- pockets, color blocking, and zippered pockets!

I sewed up the children’s version, which covers sizes 2-18. There are separate patterns for both men and ladies available as well. I can’t wait to get some more fleece and make these for the whole family!

I struggled with my zipper a bit, and after talkign with the designer, I am ordering some wonder tape (which she recommends in the pattern) for my next one! I love that she uses a knit facing for the zipper which also covers the zipper, reducing the “itchy” factor for little ones! I followed the size chart for his chest measurement and the fit is spot on. I think next time, I will go up a size for this guy, as this one fits just perfect, and I like to have some growing room!

Be sure to check the logs below all throughout the week as we share our visions for this awesome pattern! Check out the 5 out of 4 Facebook page throughout the week as well, They are heading towards their 1 year anniversary, and I know she has some fun planned!

Leyla Jayne Comfy Cozy PJ’s

One of my goals over the past few months was to expand my sewing to try new designers or designers I had yet to try. I saw a tester call for the Comfy Cozy PJ’s, and had this combo just hit me! I chatted with the designer a bit about what fabrics she was looking for, and decided to add it to my crazy holiday sewing list! I am SO glad I did! Marisa is great! She was quick to respond to any questions/concerns during testing, and made sure everyone knew about any corrections made during testing.

IMG_3585

This pattern comes in sizes XS to XXL

Pattern Features:

• Traditional 2 Piece Pajama
Set
• Short Sleeve and 5” Short
Length or Long Sleeve and
Pant Length
• 28” or 30” inseam
• Can Be Made With Knit or
Woven Material
• Great Pattern for Year-
Round Use
• Layered Pattern
• No Trim Pages

IMG_3591

This is my favorite style of Pj’s! I love a quick sew, and with the cuffs on the sleeves and pants, these are a quick sew! The pink knit is so comfortable and soft! I used a cotton woven for the cuffs, top of pocket, and the facings. I also used snaps rather than buttons after my machine ate my first top while trying to make button holes!

Of course getting pictures of Pj’s is always difficult, especially since I don’t have a yard, so we tried to be playful with the pictures. My teen said she felt like she was spying on my while I read and drank my coffee!

IMG_3595

I cannot wait to make more of these! Now to clean out the PJ drawer to make room!

So have I convinced you to buy the pattern?

The Comfy Cozy Pajama Sew Along is happening next week on January 11th-15th! Just join the group on Facebook, grab your pattern, and get your fabric ready! Marisa will be posting the steps everyday and answering questions on the group wall so if you’re uneasy about sewing your first pair, don’t be!

IMG_3600

Funktional Threads is also having a sale all week. You can get the patterns for 35% off with the code BLOG35 here!

When I set out to work on this tour, I figured I would be sewing a dress or a skirt for my daughter. She is almost 13, so I always ask her opinion on things now..go figure, the one dress she loved and really wanted, she is just out of the size range! I didn’t have time to upsize it for her in time, so I decided to make my 2 yr old a Jackson Raglan.

IMG_3206

I traded fabric with a sewing friend back in July and in my bag was this awesome toothless knit. My daughter used some to make a dress for herself, but I had plenty left over! I paired it with a solid green for some color.

IMG_3207

As you can clearly see, he loves the hood! He kept pulling it over his eyes and asking “Where I go?”

IMG_3222

I made him the size 1/2 based on his measurements and it was a perfect fit!

IMG_3237

I will be sourcing some more awesome boy knits to make him some more!

IMG_3227

Be sure to check out Sweet Pea & Pumpkins tomorrow for her take on the Grace Dress! (I have seen pics and it is so cute!)
