When I set out to work on this tour, I figured I would be sewing a dress or a skirt for my daughter. She is almost 13, so I always ask her opinion on things now..go figure, the one dress she loved and really wanted, she is just out of the size range! I didn’t have time to upsize it for her in time, so I decided to make my 2 yr old a Jackson Raglan.

IMG_3206

I traded fabric with a sewing friend back in July and in my bag was this awesome toothless knit. My daughter used some to make a dress for herself, but I had plenty left over! I paired it with a solid green for some color.

IMG_3207

As you can clearly see, he loves the hood! He kept pulling it over his eyes and asking “Where I go?”

IMG_3222

I made him the size 1/2 based on his measurements and it was a perfect fit!

IMG_3237

I will be sourcing some more awesome boy knits to make him some more!

Be sure to check out Sweet Pea & Pumpkins tomorrow for her take on the Grace Dress! (I have seen pics and it is so cute!)

When I first saw this purse, I was enthralled! It was not like most bags I see or that I sew. I had not made a rag quilt in a few years, and immediately knew what fabrics I would chose, regardless of what my twelve yr old said!

IMG_3192

I love how big this bag is! I can easily carry my usual items- my wallet, phone, keys, and tissues- along with a carry case of baby wipes and a spare set of clothes for my 2 yr old! At 15″ wide at the base, 11″ tall, and 4 1/2″ deep, this bag is perfect for everyday activities! It would be perfect done in pastels for a dance bag or in a fun print to tote toys or activities to and from the car when traveling!

IMG_3195

The pattern is easy to follow, with only 1 pattern piece and then measurements for cutting everything else out, it makes my printer happy!

The options for this bag are pretty great too! It includes two outside ‘quilt as you go’ pockets, a large inside pocket (or divider) and a smaller inside pocket. You can leave off or add more pockets if you wish. The pattern calls for stiff interfacing (if desired) to give the bag body. I opted to leave it out, as I made mine out of flannel and wanted the soft floppy hobo bag feel/look to mine. The top of the bag closes with a zipper, and the pattern includes directions for a regular zipper along with an exposed zipper!

I have already had my daughter ask for a bag of her own, and I imagine I will get a few more requests as I am out and about with my new bag!

I own a few of her patterns now, and sewed up a striped rag quilt for a baby gift I am working on. I love the simplicity of this one!

What fabrics would you pick for a bag? or go check out A Vision to Remember and tell me what pattern you would make!

Happy Sewing!

Not only is there an AMAZING blog tour going on but 1 lucky winner that leaves a comment below between now and 8/3/15 will win a FREE EYMM pattern of their choice!!!!  Which one would you pick?

I haven’t been sewing for myself very long, and when I do, I find myself going back to only a couple designers. Mostly because I like the fit and know what size to sew, so I don’t have to take the time to measure myself and all that. Kymy from Everything Your Mama Made (EYMM) is one of those designers. I have been following almost from the beginning and even got to meet her (and her awesome kids!) last summer! Both my daughter and I love her patterns! For this tour, I decided to sew up the new Women’s Capsule Skirt and the Kymy’s Dolman Top.

IMG_3128

Both of these were new to me patterns and I am in love with the results! I love that I can put EYMM patterns together with no trimming! As a busy mom, stuff gets pushed to the back of the sewing queue if it can’t be put together during an episode of Baby Signing time or Curious George!

IMG_3149

This little guy loves to “help” put patterns together, which usually means more work for me!

I recently met up with a sewing friend and we swapped fabric, and I found this navy and cream print to be perfect for the Capsule Skirt! For the top, I had this wonderful red fabric from Joann’s. I love the drape of it! Both fabrics are prefect for these patterns!

I hope I have inspired you to check out EYMM patterns! Be sure to check out the other posts along the tour!

Then hop on over to EYMM to check out the awesome <a href=”http://www.eymm.com/2015/07/26/2nd-anniversary/”>SALE</a&gt;, and an even bigger <a href=”http://www.eymm.com/2015/07/26/2nd-anniversary/&#8221; target=”_blank”>celebration giveaway</a> with over $1000 in prizes.  There will be 40 winners in all.

Since we managed to break the password reset/order confirmation emails from the web host today, and the site is still a bit bogged down from the Craftsy Charity project traffic we decided to extend the Manic Monday Flash Sale 1 day through 11:59pm PST TUESDAY 7/28/2015

Also as a reminder, confirmation emails and password reset emails will start going out again tomorrow after 9am PST. You can still order now and log into your account to view your order and download your files.

Hello world!

Glad you found your way over!

This is a new venture for me. I am switching gears! I will be posting pattern modifications, tips & hints, pattern organizations, free tutorials/patterns, and eventually with have some RTS items and possible patterns at some point. I have always been crafty, and sometimes it gets me into trouble! I tend to have too many projects going at any given time!

So tell me, What would you like to see happen in this blog?
